If you don't have pokerio odds If you have a table or can't use it, there's an easy way to calculate poker odds. You can use this calculation method in live poker.
Let's take an example:. You are holding in your hands:
The flop is out:
And a question: what are your poker odds of catching a Flush in the next round ?
Solution:
First, we count the outs: the unknown cards that will help us get a suit. There are 9 of them.
Use the following rule: multiply the known outs by 2 and convert it to a percentage if you want to know the poker odds for a one-card showdown and multiply it by 4 and convert it to a percentage if you want to know the poker odds for a two-card showdown.
So, in our case, we multiply 9 by 2 and convert it into a percentage. We get 18%. This means that 18% of all the times you will be dealt cards that help you and 82 % of all the times you will be dealt cards that don't help you. This gives us odds of 82 : 18 = 4.5 : 1. The answer is 4.5 : 1. This is not the exact result as given in the table, but it is close to the truth. However, it's a great way to calculate easy odds when you don't have an odds table nearby.
And if you want to know the odds of two cards being turned up, multiply 9 by 4 and convert to percentages. The result is 36%. This means that 36% of all the times you will be dealt cards that help you and 64 % of all the times you will be dealt cards that don't help you. This gives us odds of 64 : 36 = 1.7 : 1. The answer is 1.7 : 1. This is not an exact result, but it is also close to the truth.
